Biblical Self-Care for Anxiety
Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
What turned me to faith—what led me to lean on scriptures to overcome anxiety—was my own struggle with anxiety, loneliness, and feeling judged.
Being in a new place, constantly relocating, and having to start over again and again made me anxious. Going back to school while juggling life’s pressures only added to the weight. Anxiety became a real, overwhelming feeling in my life.
Anxiety isn’t just a fleeting emotion; it often stems from fear of the unknown, uncertainty, comparison, and feeling like we’re not enough. It shows up in racing thoughts, sleepless nights, self-doubt, and that deep pit in your stomach that whispers, "What if everything goes wrong?"

5 Self-Care Practices/ Scriptures for Anxiety
1. Breathe & Pray
🌿 Take a deep breath and whisper: "Lord, I give You my worries. Fill me with Your peace."🕊 1 Peter 5:7 – “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
2. Meditate on God’s Promises
🌿 When anxious thoughts rise, speak scripture over your mind instead of dwelling on fear.📖 Isaiah 41:10 – "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you."
3. Worship Through the Worry
🌿 Anxiety shrinks in the presence of worship. Play your favorite worship song and shift your focus to God’s goodness.🎶 Psalm 94:19 – “When anxiety was great within me, Your consolation brought me joy.”
4. Step Outside & Reset
🌿 Nature is one of God’s greatest gifts for restoration. Take a walk, feel the sun, and breathe in God’s creation.🍃 Psalm 23:2-3 – "He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul."
5. Journal & Give It to God
🌿 Write down your anxious thoughts, then replace them with His truth. Let go of the lies that say you’re not enough.📖 Matthew 11:28 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
